Aaron Rodgers breaks silence as NFL world waits for free agent decision image

Future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers did an unexpected guest spot on "The Pat McAfee Show" on Thursday and Pittsburgh Steelers fans were hoping to finally get an answer about his 2025 plans.

Unfortunately, that did not happen. Instead, Rodgers revealed that he's more focused on dealing with something in his personal life right now as the NFL world waits on him to make a decision.

Rodgers also revealed that retirement is definitely still on the table, but he has not made a decision yet. He also noted that the idea he's waiting on the Minnesota Vikings is simply not accurate.

“I’m open to anything and attached to nothing. So yeah, retirement still could be a possibility," Rodgers explained to McAfee. "But right now my focus has been and will continue to be on my personal life.”

Rodgers said he is not holding anyone hostage. He also revealed he'd be willing to play for $10 million, which runs counter to rumors and speculation that have his expected contract anywhere between $30-$45 million annually.

"I wasn’t holding anybody hostage," Rodgers said.

"I told every single one of the teams, it ain't about the money," Rodgers added. "I said I'll play for $10 million. Whatever."

When it comes to the Steelers, Rodgers praised head coach Mike Tomlin, as well as offensive coordinator Arthur Smith. He was particularly impressed with Tomlin, who he was even more impressed with than he thought he would be.

"Obvioulsy went out to Pittsburgh. Tried to do that as quietly as possible. A lot of people think I'm desperate for attention," he said. "I flew into a different airport. I got a Malibu rental car, drove the Malibu rental car to the facility, back side practice field."

"He’s more than I even thought from afar as far as the type of person he is. I have a lot of respect for what he's accomplished in the league," Rodgers added on Tomlin.

Rodgers also touched on being given a deadline by the Steelers and said that he told the team that if they want to move on, they most certainly can. Rodgers also noted that he remains in touch with Tomlin after meeting with the Steelers.

"There's been no deadlines. I've talked to Mike T many times," Rodgers revealed.

Well, there you have it, folks. The waiting game continues.
