Cowboys executive hints at potential blockbuster NFL Draft trade image

The Dallas Cowboys have the 12th overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, but they may not stay put. Executive Vice President Stephen Jones has hinted at a potential move on draft night.

During an appearance on "K&C Masterpiece" for 105.3 The Fan, Jones talked about the Cowboys' outlook on the draft board and whether or not they move up.

"I do think there are some really good football players, don't get me wrong, but I do think in this draft you can get really good football players in the second half of the draft," Jones said.

"I don't necessarily see us moving up, based on the way the board is coming together," Jones continued. "But could see a situation where we move down."

The Cowboys have not traded up in the first round of the NFL Draft since 2012, when they selected Morris Claiborne. The Cowboys have needs at wide receiver, on the offensive line and in the secondary. They could land a star player for one of those roles at No.12, but Jones believes this draft class gives them the opportunity to trade down and still land a star.

The Cowboys' No.12 overall pick could become very valuable if Shedeur Sanders starts to slide. A quarterback-needy team like the Pittsburgh Steelers could trade up, or a team like the Browns or Giants could give up a haul to move back into the first round and get him along with whoever they selected first.
