Rangers vs. Tottenham score, result: Hosts rue late miss in exciting Europa League draw with Spurs image

In the neck-and-neck battle for a top eight spot in the Europa League table, Tottenham and Rangers lacked the goal mouth quality to lift their side as the two played to a 1-1 draw at Ibrox on Thursday.

Both teams had plenty of attacking intent, creating a host of chances on both sloppy opposition mistakes and their own creative movement, but neither side produced the finishing touch to snatch all three points.

Rangers were right up for the match in front of a raucous home crowd in Glasgow, and secured the opener shortly after halftime as Marcus Tavernier did all the hard work before Hamza Igamane's close-range finish.

Spurs would hit back with 15 minutes left through Dejan Kulusevski which seemed to turn the momentum in their favor, but it would be the hosts who will rue their late misses most.

Under significant pressure, Rangers turned the match on its head with five minutes to go but Fraser Forster stymied Dujon Sterling at the death with a great chance to steal a win.

FULLTIME: Rangers 1-1 Tottenham

An enthralling match full of attacking intent and lacking finishing comes to a close.

85th min: Chance, Rangers! A DISASTROUS MISS BY DUJON STERLING! He carves the Spurs defense to shreds but is denied by Fraser Forster right in front of goal!

Spurs had been in front but Rangers nearly snatched it with five minutes remaining! Great save!

75th min: GOAL! TOTTENHAM! Spurs are level through halftime substitute Dejan Kulusevski! The move breaks down the right and Dominic Solanke's cutback to the middle evades one attacker but finds a free Kulusevski just inside the top of the penalty area for the low slotted finish!

72nd min: Lucas Bergvall is the second Spurs player booked for a foul on Nicolas Raskin.

69th min: After a triple change by Rangers, Radu Dragusin is booked for a foul on Ridvan Yilmaz.

47th min: GOAL! RANGERS! Marcus Taverneir takes the ball off a poor Spurs giveaway in midfield and charges forward down the right. He makes it all the way into the penalty area untouched before delivering a perfect little square ball to Hamza Igamane who applies the finish right at the top of the six-yard box!

It's poor from Spurs, and finally one side capitalizes on an opposition mistake. Ibrox is in delirium, as the home fans explode in full voice!

2nd half kickoff: The ball is rolling once again at Ibrox. Each sides will look to both shore up the sloppiness in possession and capitalize better on chances up front as they eye a breakthrough in this otherwise exciting match.

Ange Postecoglou makes a halftime change as Dejan Kulusevski comes in for Timo Werner.

HALFTIME: Rangers 0-0 Tottenham

Right on the stroke of halftime, Fraser Forster is called to task with a great save on Vaclav Cerny, who's been Rangers' best attacking player!

A scoreless first half only in name, the first 45 minutes were extremely exciting, with back-and-forth action thanks to a number of bad giveaways and good attacking intent. We're only without a breakthrough thanks to a few great saves and even more poor chance-taking.

39th min: Chance, Tottenham! WHAT A SAVE BY JACK BUTLAND! He denies Brennan Johnson at point-blank range after a brilliant pass from James Madison! The flag goes up for offside, so it presumably wouldn't have counted, but the Rangers goalkeeper won't have known that in the moment!

34th min: Rangers are forced to make a change as Harry Souttar is down with what appears to be a groin injury, having potentially pulled a muscle as he made a square pass. He is swapped out for Leon Balogun.

20th min: Both teams are looking lively. Neither side has faced much resistance when looking to break down the field on the ball, making for a first 20 minutes of energetic pace. Spurs have had the better chances in front of goal but Rangers have been up for the task too.

Rangers midfielder Mohamed Diomande picks up the first yellow card of the match for a poor challenge right on the 20-minute mark.

Kickoff: They're under way in Glasgow! Both teams are hunting a top eight spot in the Europa League table.

Rangers vs. Tottenham lineups, team news, starting 11

Rangers have been without left-back Ridvan Yilmaz for much of the year due to a hamstring injury, and after making a few substitute appearances, he's ready to start, moving Jefte back up to the wing. On the other flank, Dutch right-back Neraysho Kasanwirjo is out until the new year with a knee injury.

Philippe Clement confirmed that while Rabbi Matondo is nearing a return from a hamstring issue of his own, he will not be ready quite yet to make the squad. The prognosis is better for young Colombian winger Oscar Cortes who is available after missing much of the year with his own muscle injury.

Clement has gone with Hamza Igamane as the lone striker up front, with Danilo and Cyriel Dessers on the bench despite pushing for playing time up front lately. Dressers leads the club with 12 goals across all competitions this year, but seems to have lost his starting place in recent weeks.

Rangers starting lineup (4-3-3, right to left): Butland (GK) — Tavernier, Souttar, Propper, Yilmaz— Diomande, Bajrami,  Raskin — Cerny, Igamane, Jefte.

Rangers subs (12): Kelly (GK), Balogun, King, Fraser, Rice, Barron, Curtis, Dowell, Sterling, Cortes, McCausland, Dessers.

Postecoglou has a real selection headache when it comes to his available Tottenham defenders, admitting it's the worst injury crisis he's faced as a manager "by a fair stretch."

Spurs will be without oft-injured Micky van de Ven as well as Cristian Romero after both picked up issues on the weekend, while Ben Davies will also miss out. They're also down starting goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario who's out for months with a serious ankle injury.

Brennan Johnson returns after exiting the weekend's game with an illness, while Richarlison is not yet ready to see the field as he recovers from a hamstring injury. Dejan Kulusevski and Dominik Solanke are rotated to the bench for some rest, while Rodrigo Bentancur and James Maddison come back into midfield.

Tottenham starting lineup (4-3-1-2, right to left): Forster (GK) — Porro, Dragusin, Gray, Udogie — Bentancur, Bissouma, Maddison — Werner — Johnson, Son.

Tottenham subs (11): Austin (GK), Whiteman (GK), Dorrington, Hardy, Sarr, Bergvall, Williams-Barnett, Kulusevski, Olusesi, Lankshear, Solanke.
