The Dallas Cowboys could look to upgrade their safety room over the next few months. Though Donovan Wilson and Malik Hooker are decent starters, the duo aren't irreplaceable players, and Wilson is set to hit unrestricted free agency next offseason.

Dallas could address the potential need in the draft, but Last Word on Sports' Anthony Palacios lists the Cowboys as a possible landing spot for New Orleans Saints safety Tyrann Mathieu.

"It's hard to tell what the future holds for Donovan Wilson. He is entering the final year of his deal and the Cowboys should take this opportunity to increase the safety unit with the addition of Mathieu to give some breathing room for their cornerbacks," Palacios wrote.

Though Mathieu agreed to a reworked deal earlier in the offseason that is expected to keep him in New Orleans for the 2025 season, the Saints could still look to trade him, as the franchise seems to be headed towards a full-scale rebuild and the veteran safety could have some value on the market.

If New Orleans decides to move Mathieu, the Cowboys should add him to Matt Eberflus' defense. The three-time All-Pro is still a solid starter who hasn't missed a game in three years and has snagged at least three interceptions in each of the last four seasons.

Mathieu would immediately step in as Dallas' primary starting safety, and his leadership would also be a nice addition to the defense. Additionally, the 32-year-old is on a cheap deal, and a Day 3 pick should be enough to acquire the star defender from the Saints.

The Cowboys should do all they can to build a Super Bowl-caliber roster in 2025, and trading for Tyrann Mathieu to bolster the secondary would be a logical move from owner and general manager Jerry Jones.
