When it comes to Shedeur Sanders' football career, he will never be able to avoid connections to his family.

Mostly, that's a product of his father and former coach, Deion. "Prime Time" is well-regarded as one of the greatest athletes of all-time — the only athlete to ever appear in both the Super Bowl and World Series.

But even outside of Coach Prime, there's plenty more to know about the Sanders family, which will be supporting Shedeur on his journey to the NFL.

Shedeur Sanders parents

Sanders' parents are Deion Sanders and Pilar Biggers-Sanders. Deion married Pilar in 1999, his second marriage, and the couple had three children, including Shedeur. Deion also has two children with his first wife, Carolyn Chambers.

Deion has famously been the head coach for Shedeur and his brother, Shilo, on various teams. In 2017, Deion Sanders became the offensive coordinator for Trinity Christian High School, where he coached three of his sons, including Shedeur.

In 2020, Deion became the head coach at Jackson State, where Shedeur then committed to after initially committing to Florida Atlantic. In 2021, Shedeur Sanders became the Tigers' starting quarterback, and he remained the starter under his father through his entire collegiate career.

In 2023, Deion Sanders was named the head coach at Colorado, again bringing his two sons, Shedeur and Shilo, along with him. Under his father, Shedeur Sanders became one of the nation's best quarterbacks in the 2024 season.

Pilar Biggers-Sanders is an actress, model and wellness coach. She has appeared on "The Jamie Foxx Show," "Walker, Texas Ranger" and "Veronica's Closet." Pilar has also built a significant social media following, creating fitness videos and supporting her sons on their football journeys.

Deion Sanders and Pilar Biggers-Sanders have been divorced since 2015. In April 2012, they both faced misdemeanor assault charges after a dispute, but a judge ruled that neither had committed family violence. In 2013, they had a custody dispute over their three children, and Deion was given sole custody of their two sons, while they had joint custody over their daughter.

The couple was married from 1999-2015 and have rarely been seen together or talked about one another since.

Deion Sanders Jr., 31, followed in his father's footsteps on the football field, playing at Marcus High School in Dallas, then Atlanta Sports Academy. Deion Jr. also played college football at Southern Methodist University until 2015. He now works in fashion, launching streetwear brand "Well Off Forever," in 2016. He also spent time as his father's social media manager while he was at Jackson State.

In 2021, Shilo Sanders joined Shedeur and Deion at Jackson State, remaining with the team until 2023, when the whole family moved to Colorado. The safety used up his final collegiate eligibility in 2024 and is now a prospect for the 2025 NFL Draft. Over his collegiate career, Shilo Sanders totaled 217 tackles, six interceptions and seven forced fumbles. He is expected to be a late-round pick or UDFA.
