The Baltimore Orioles are not off to a strong start in 2025. They are 11-18 and sit at the bottom of the American League East, 6 1/2 games behind the first place New York Yankees.
There is still time to turn things around. However, things aren't looking good in Birdland, and if they can't get out of their rut, they may be forced to do something unexpected at the trade deadline.
Instead of buying, they may be forced to sell and capitalize on the value of some of their expiring contracts.
Cedric Mullins is a free agent at the end of the season and is also off to a hot start this year.
Andrew Wright of Newsweek proposed the idea of Baltimore trading him to the Kansas City Royals, who need some power in their lineup.

"Kansas City is by far in the worst spot (29th) in Wins Above Average from outfielders at minus-1.9 so far this season," Wright said.
"For a team that advanced to the ALDS last season, the addition of an outfield bat at some point during the season is much needed. Mullins feels like the perfect addition for not only the lineup, but also to play a very good centerfield in a big outfield at Kauffman Stadium."
Baltimore could get a huge haul in exchange for Mullins at the trade deadline. They need pitching depth after the loss of Corbin Burnes and various injuries.
They also have a logjam of position players. They are going to need to address that at the trade deadline, whether they buy or sell.
Mullins is a former All-Star and Silver Slugger. So far this year, he is hitting .283/.421/.533 with six home runs, 20 RBI, five stolen bases and a .954 OPS.
It will be interesting to see what Baltimore decides to do at the deadline.
