Blue Jays’ Bo Bichette makes big announcement about his 2026 baseball team amid contract rumors image

Whether Bo Bichette will play for the Toronto Blue Jays in 2026 remains to be seen.

But we now know one team that Bichette will play for next spring.

Bichette announced on Wednesday that in the World Baseball Classic, he'll be suiting up for Team Brazil.

He and his brother, Dante Bichette Jr., will both play for the Brazilian squad.

“It means a lot to our whole family that my brother and I are playing," Bichette said. "I want to help us win and shine a spotlight on Brazilian baseball.”

According to MLB.com, Brazil is the home country of Bichette's mother, Mariana.

Bichette could've played for the United States, where father Dante was born, but is going to play for Brazil, which was reportedly the first federation to call him about participating.

It also allows him to play with his older brother Dante, who hasn't played in affiliated baseball since 2019.

It's a big get for Brazil, which had to advance through the qualifying round to get into the 2026 WBC. They didn't qualify in 2023.

Brazil is in the same group as the United States for pool play.

Bichette may be preparing for a new Blue Jays season next spring training after a new contract, or he could have a whole new team.

But either way, we know he'll be suiting up for Brazil.
