As one of the best squads from each conference met in Week 15 of the NFL season, the result had significant ripple effects on the league's playoff picture.
A Pennsylvania matchup between the Steelers and Eagles resulted in a 27-13 Philadelphia win at home. Jalen Hurts totaled three touchdowns, helping the Eagles improve to 12-2. Pittsburgh dropped to 10-4.
Both teams are still in prime positions to make the postseason, but potential seeding — including the No. 1 seed in each conference — was impacted by the result.
Here's a look at both the AFC and NFC playoff standings following the Eagles' win over the Steelers, the outlook for each squad, and how they'll finish the season.

AFC playoff standings
Seed | Team | Record |
1 | Chiefs | 13-1 |
2 | Bills | 11-3 |
3 | Steelers | 10-4 |
4 | Texans | 9-5 |
5 | Ravens | 9-5 |
6 | Broncos | 9-5 |
7 | Chargers | 8-6 |
Kansas City still has a clear path to the AFC's top seed, coming off a win over the Browns in Week 15 that improved its record to 13-1. The Bills and Steelers are still within reach of that top seed, but both would need the Chiefs to lose a few games down the stretch.
With its loss, Pittsburgh's main concern is now likely its ability to hold onto its AFC North lead. The Steelers did claim a playoff spot even with their loss, but whether that spot ends up being from a top-four seed or a wild-card spot is still up in the air.

Steelers playoff picture
After losing to the Eagles this week, the Steelers lead Baltimore in the AFC North by just one game. There are three games left for each team, so the Ravens could still make a comeback to win the division before the regular season concludes.
Already having double-digits in the win column, Pittsburgh has officially claimed an AFC playoff spot, meaning that even if it fails to win its division, the squad will then find itself in a wild-card position. Seeding is now the main question for the Steelers.
They do face a difficult end-of-season schedule, and a Week 16 matchup against the Ravens has massive implications. That's a game that could dictate how Pittsburgh makes the AFC playoffs, either as a division winner or as a wild-card team.
With Baltimore, Kansas City, and Cincinnati being the Steelers' final three opponents, they don't have an easy path to end the season.
NFC playoff standings
Seed | Team | Record |
1 | Lions | 12-2 |
2 | Eagles | 12-2 |
3 | Buccaneers | 8-6 |
4 | Rams | 8-6 |
5 | Vikings | 12-2 |
6 | Packers | 10-4 |
7 | Commanders | 9-5 |
The Eagles' win over the Steelers, especially when combined with the Lions' loss to the Bills, had significant implications at the top of the NFC.
Philadelphia is still behind Detroit in the standings for now due to tiebreakers, but the squads are tied in record, and the final three weeks of the season will be huge in deciding which team will claim the No. 1 seed. Minnesota owns the top wild-card spot, but it's also now within serious striking distance to steal the NFC North division, and perhaps the No. 1 seed, from Detroit.
The Rams and Buccaneers are the other division leaders in the NFC, but neither is within reach of the No. 1 seed. All three of the wild-card leaders are in a strong playoff spot entering Week 16, as well.
Eagles playoff picture
Philadelphia has already been cruising to an NFC East title, with Washington now three games behind the Eagles with three games remaining. The significance of the Eagles' Week 15 win, though, is that the team now has a legitimate shot at the conference's top seed.
Having already clinched a playoff spot, Philadelphia will be a wild-card team, at worst. But now being tied in record with Detroit, the Eagles could earn themselves a first-round bye in the playoffs with a good end-of-season run and potential losses from the Lions and Vikings.
The Lions still face the 49ers and Vikings this season, so the Eagles' chances at the No. 1 seed are alive and well.
Steelers schedule vs. Eagles schedule
Here's a look at the two Pennsylvania squads' remaining schedules:
Week | 16 | 17 | 18 |
Steelers | at Ravens | vs. Chiefs | vs. Bengals |
Eagles | at Commanders | vs. Cowboys | vs. Giants |
Pittsburgh has somewhat of a gauntlet to go through to end the season, with significant playoff implications still on the line.
Philadelphia, meanwhile, faces each of its division rivals down the stretch, with particularly favorable matchups against Dallas and New York.
