Conor McGregor has been dropped from Proper No.12 whiskey after recently being convicted of sexual assault. In a civil case dating back to 2018, the former UFC superstar was found guilty and ordered to pay $250,000 to the victim.
This past Tuesday it was revealed that Proximo Spirits, the parent company of Proper 12, will no longer use McGregor’s name or image on the Irish whiskey. For those unaware, Proximo Spirits bought the whiskey brand from the UFC fighter and his partners back in 2021 for a reported $600 million but continued to promote it using the Irish fighter’s name.
In a statement released to the Irish Independent, the company stated:
“Since 2021, Proximo Spirits has been the 100pc owner of Proper No. 12 Irish Whiskey. Going forward, we do not plan to use Mr. McGregor’s name and likeness in the marketing of the brand.”

Despite being one of the founders of Proper No. 12 whiskey before its acquisition by Proximo Spirits, this does not come as a shock considering stores across the USA and Ireland already stopped selling the brand after McGregor’s conviction.
