Australia coach Andrew McDonald has revealed the specific reasons why teenager Sam Konstas will make his Test debut on Boxing Day against India.
The 19-year-old will become Australia's youngest Test opener in history, replacing Nathan McSweeney at the top of the Australian batting order.
When confirming Konstas would get his first Baggygreen cap in Melbourne, McDonald revealed the talented NSW batsmen would pose a 'different challenge' for Indian star Jasprit Bumrah and the rest of the nation's bowling attack.
McDonald explained Konstas' temperament contributed to his selection, while his variety of shots was also a huge factor.

“He’s been very similar to what I’ve seen on the outside … he’s composed, relaxed,” McDonald said to reporters.
“He’ll play Boxing Day, so I’ll get that one out of the way
“What he’s shown is an array of shots and an ability to put pressure back on his opponents.”
McDonald revealed Travis Head is expected to overcome a quad strain to be available, while Mitch Marsh will also play and bowl more overs.
The coach also confirmed Victorian seamer Scott Boland would get another opportunity at the MCG, replacing the injured Josh Hazlewood.
