The Steelers' standard was upheld for another season in 2024, as they posted a 10-7 record and made their fourth postseason appearance in five years. Unfortunately for Pittsburgh, however, it is nearing 10 years without a playoff win.
Given the expectations levied upon the franchise, the Steelers have actively addressed needs this offseason. After making waves with the acquisition of wide receiver DK Metcalf via trade, Pittsburgh will look to add more win-now talent through the 2025 NFL Draft.
This season, the Steelers will have their work cut out to remain competitive in the unforgiving AFC North. Many eyes will be on what Pittsburgh does on draft night, as it could very well shape the expectations of what's to come as Mike Tomlin looks to continue his impressive streak of non-losing seasons.

Steelers NFL Draft needs
- Quarterback: Neither of Pittsburgh's two starters from 2024 are on the roster anymore, and it enters draft night with a QB room of Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson. Those QBs are respectable in their own right, but the Steelers are in the market for a signal-caller. They are expected by many to take one on draft night, and making the right choice at QB could be the difference between missing the postseason and reinvigorating the franchise's future.
- Running back: The departure of free agent Najee Harris leaves a bigger role for Jaylen Warren, but as last year showed, the system benefits from two backs capable of making a difference. They've added Kenneth Gainwell, but drafting another player to add to the backfield rotation would be beneficial for the Steelers.
- Cornerback: Upgrades in the secondary feel necessary for Pittsburgh, though it did add Darius Slay Jr. and Brandin Echols in the offseason. Drafting a corner makes sense as the young up-and-comer can learn under Slay, who, at 34, does not have much more left in the tank.
