UFC lightweight Paddy Pimblett is one of the most touted fighters in the division. As of now, Pimblett is on a fine streak of his own at eight straight, including all six of his UFC appearances.
While he is on a winning run, Pimblett is still a few wins away from potentially getting a title shot. As a potential title contender, Pimblett is often faced with the question about his chances of beating the current lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev.
Speaking about the same recently during the StillTalkingShow, Pimblett made a rather bold claim. While many would suggest that Birt is not at the level of Makhachev, he has no doubt about his abilities and believes no fighter can beat him inside the octagon. He said:
“Of course, people always say, ‘Do you think you’d beat Islam Makhachev?’ I’m like, ‘Obviously.’ You’ve got to. Do you think I’m going to sit here and just be like, ‘No, he’d beat me?’ Then I’m not a fighter. I’m a coward.”
He added:
“I respect Islam. He’s a great champion. People will probably laugh at me for saying this, but obviously, I think I’d beat him. I don’t think any man on this planet would beat me if we got in a cage, I think I’d beat everyone.”
