Essendon host Fremantle this afternoon in a must win match for their finals chances.

They were sitting pretty in the top four a month ago, but four losses in five games have seen them tumble to 10th, two points outside of the top eight.

They also face the uneasy prospect of a Fremantle side who has won four of their last five, including knocking off ladder leading Sydney on the road to power them to third.
