All Blacks sevens representative Moses Leo will join the Storm ahead of schedule.

Leo was originally set to join Melbourne's NRL squad from the 2026 season after inking a two-year deal in September.

However, New Zealand Rugby have granted the Kiwi international an early release from his sevens contract.

This means he will arrive at AAMI Park shortly ahead of the 2025 campaign.

"We are looking forward to seeing Moses join his teammates for pre-season this year and appreciate the cooperation from New Zealand Rugby in supporting Moses with his request for an early release," Storm director of football Frank Ponissi said.

Leo also signalled his exit last week via Instagram.

"Just want to say thank you to [New Zealand Rugby], [New Zealand Sevens] and [North Harbour Rugby Union] for giving me a space to grow, thrive and showcase my abilities to the world," the 27-year-old wrote.

"To all the people who've helped me in my journey through rugby in NZ, coaches, teammates, friends and family, I wouldn’t be living this dream without you and your ongoing support.

"I truly love all the teams I’ve had the pleasure to serve and am excited for what's to come. In a bit NZ."

Melbourne winger and former New Zealand rugby sevens player Will Warbrick commented on the post, writing: "See you soon".

Leo notably represented New Zealand at this year's Olympic Games in Paris.

He has also played for Kiwi provincial championship side North Harbour.

The Storm's recruitment team have identified Leo as a player who can "fill a number of outside back positions, including wing, centre and fullback".
