Rob Whittaker is set to enter the Octagon on Sunday morning, AEDT, against Khamzat Chimaev. The highly anticipated middleweight matchup will serve as the co-main event of UFC 308.
The fight was originally scheduled for June this year, however, 'Borz' had to pull out of the fight because of illness. The undefeated fighter was replaced by Ikram Aliskerov on short notice.
Whittaker secured a statement victory, beating Aliskerov via a first-round knockout. Now, the Australian is set to take on Chimaev, and as one would assume, there is a lot of anticipation surrounding the fight.

Rob Whittaker looking to finish Khamzat Chimaev
Speaking with The Sporting News, Whittaker outlined how he sees the fight playing out. While suggesting that Chimaev will get tired if he tried to take him down, 'The Reaper' said: "I believe I have the advantage in the standup world and if he's gonna try and force that story of taking me down, he'll get more tired."
Furthermore, Whittaker spoke about how he will look to get a finish. He said: "I've got 25 minutes to look for a finish and that's what I'm gonna try and do."
It is worth noting that Chimaev hasn't been in action since last year following his victory over Kamaru Usman. Despite being undefeated so far, 'Borz' has had close matchups against Gilbert Burns and Usman that displayed the gaps that could be exploited in potentially securing a victory over him.
With the middleweight fight having major title implications on the line, fans can expect to witness a great showdown between two elite fighters. That said, it remains to be seen as to who comes out on top when they finally lock horns inside the Octagon in Abu Dhabi at UFC 308.
