The Dallas Mavericks have gotten off to a slow start this season, and now their star player has been sidelined due to injury, with Luka Dončić set to miss time.

Dončić will miss at least four games after he suffered a right wrist injury in their win over the Pelicans on Wednesday.

The All-Star joins Australian Dante Exum on the Mavericks' injury report, leaving Dallas' depth chart worryingly thin at the guard position, as they try to return to the NBA Finals for a second straight year.

The Mavericks defeated the Pelicans 132-91 this week, but it didn't come without cost for Dallas, as their MVP candidate Dončić picked up a right wrist sprain in the contest.

Dončić wore a wrist brace to the post-game press conference, and while he told media in attendance it was "nothing serious," the team is set to re-evaluate him in a week, which could see him miss four-to-five games.
