NFL standings after Week 13

AFC playoff picture

1. Kansas City Chiefs 11-1 (first place, AFC West): The Chiefs beat the Raiders soundly on Black Friday to ensure they would hold to the top seed ahead of the Bills and Steelers after Week 13. They lost at Buffalo in Week 11 and travel to Pittsburgh on Christmas Day in Week 17.

2. Buffalo Bills 10-2 (first place, AFC East): The Bills kept pace with the Chiefs to remain just one game behind, holding the head-to-head tiebreaker if Kansas City drops another game.

3. Pittsburgh Steelers 9-3 (first place, AFC North): The Steelers lead the division by  1.5 games over the Ravens after beating the Bengals in Week 13. They also hold the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Ravens courtesy of a win in Week 11.

4. Houston Texans 8-5 (first place, AFC South) The Texans still lead their division by two games and a head-to-head tiebreaker over the Colts after bouncing back to hold off the Jaguars on the road in Week 13.

5. Los Angeles Chargers 8-4 (second place, AFC West): The Chargers fell a half-game and a tiebreaker behind the Ravens for No. 5 after losing to that team at home to close Week 12. However, L.A. rebounded with a win over the Falcons in Week 13 to jump the losing Ravens.

6. Baltimore Ravens 8-5 (second place, AFC North): The Ravens lost soundly to the Eagles to lose ground in the division to the winning Steelers and also in the wild-card race to the Chargers, whom they just beat in Week 12.  They also hold the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Broncos.

7. Denver Broncos 8-5 (third place, AFC West): The Broncos stayed hot by holding off the relentless Browns at home on Monday night to close Week 13. They refuse to give up the final wild-card sport easily, back up two games on the Colts.

Who's in the hunt?

  • 8. Indianapolis Colts 6-7 (second place, AFC South)
  • 9. Miami Dolphins 5-7 (second place, AFC East)
  • 10. Cincinnati Bengals 4-8 (third place, AFC North)

The Colts keep putting the best pressure on the Broncos by pulling closer to .500 with their win at the Patriots in Week 13. The Dolphins and Bengals both lost to put them on life support in the wild-card race.

Who's left?

  • 11. Cleveland Browns 3-9 (fourth place, AFC North)
  • 12. New York Jets 3-9 (third place, AFC East)
  • 13. Tennessee Titans 3-9 (third place, AFC South)
  • 14. New England Patriots 3-10 (fourth place, AFC East)
  • 15. Jacksonville Jaguars 2-10 (fourth place, AFC South)
  • 16. Las Vegas Raiders 2-10 (fourth place, AFC West)

1. Detroit Lions 11-1 (first place, NFC North): The Lions opened Week 13 by surviving the Bears on Thursday to ensure they will stay atop their conference by at least one game after all the weekend's action is complete.

2. Philadelphia Eagles 10-2 (first place, NFC East): The Eagles kept pace with the Lions by looking impressive during a tough matchup in Baltimore. They also made sure to stay 2.5 games up on the Commanders in the division race.

3. Seattle Seahawks 7-5 (first place, NFC West): The Seahawks jumped the Cardinals with their key win in Seattle in Week 12 and followed that up with a big road win over the Jets to increase their lead to a full game.

4. Atlanta Falcons 6-6 (first place, NFC South): The Falcons, have lost three straight games after falling at home to the Chargers, but they remain 4-1 in division play and are leading the NFC South by a head-to-head tiebreaker over the Buccaneers, a team they already swept this season.

5. Minnesota Vikings 10-2 (second place, NFC North): The Vikings rallied to beat the Cardinals on Sunday at home to keep pace with the Lions and stay only a game behind heading into the final five weeks.

6. Green Bay Packers 9-3 (third place, NFC North): The Packers strengthened their wild-card position and kept the pressure on the Vikings and Lions, keeping pace after a resounding victory over the Dolphins on Thursday night. They play the Lions on Thursday night to open Week 14.

7. Washington Commanders 8-5 (second place, NFC East): The Commanders ended their three-game losing streak to stay alive in the division race behind the Eagles. More important, they kept their edge in the wild-card race.

Who's in the hunt?

  • 8. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 6-6 (second place, NFC South)
  • 9. Los Angeles Rams 6-6 (second place, NFC West)
  • 10. Arizona Cardinals 6-6 (third place, NFC West)
  • 11. San Francisco 49ers 5-7 (fourth place, NFC West)
  • 12. Dallas Cowboys 5-7 (third place, NFC East)

The Buccaneers have a key win over the Commanders if they can stay hot vs. a weak schedule, but they also are even with the Falcons record-wise in the South race. The Rams, Cardinals, and 49ers all still have a better playoff path through winning the NFC West division title, but they were hurt by the Seahawks winning again. The Cowboys have just a glimmer of hope after beating the Giants in Week 13.

Who's left?

  • 13. New Orleans Saints 4-8 (third place, NFC South)
  • 14. Chicago Bears 4-8 (fourth place, NFC North)
  • 15. Carolina Panthers 3-9 (fourth place, NFC South)
  • 16. New York Giants 2-10 (fourth place, NFC East)
