North Queensland are doing everything in their power to secure the long-term future of Reece Robson at the club.

The dummy-half for New South Wales has entered into the final year of his contract and is currently able to negotiate with rivals.

There has been no shortage of interest in the 26-year-old either with the Sydney Roosters believed to be right at the front of the queue for his services.

However, Todd Payten has stated that he is hopeful the hooker will re-commit to the club in the face of possible offers from elsewhere.

"We understand that there is interest," Payten told Triple M.

"He’s a quality player. Plays big minutes, has hardly missed a game for the last two or three years.

"We have put together our best offer and as it stands, Robbo's got a decision to make."

Robson is coming off the back of a career-best year to date after starring for the Cowboys, usurping Api Koroisau as the Blues’ No.9 and being picked in Australia’s squad for the Pacific Championships.

It continued a steady rise for the dummy-half, who has become an integral member of North Queensland’s side in the past four seasons.

Payten admitted that he didn’t know if the club’s offer was enough to see him rebuff interest from the Chooks.

Although he did hint that the club would dip into the market, with Brandon Smith continuing to be linked, if he did opt to return to Sydney.

"Whichever way it goes, I am unsure at the moment," Payten said.

"I know Robbo’s openly said that he enjoys Townsville and that he wants to be here for a while, so we’ll see how that plays out.

"If he decides to go, then we need to be pragmatic about what we’re doing, how we handle it and how we solve the problem."
