Chris Lewis has officially joined the Raiders as part of their NRL coaching staff.

The 32-year-old had only recently announced his retirement as a rugby league player after spending five seasons with the Storm.

Lewis played 45 games for Melbourne between 2020 and 2024, scoring four tries.

The forward will now take the reins of Canberra's NSW Cup team.

In his new full-time role, Lewis will also work with the first-grade squad.

His appointment sees Brock Shepperd join the Raiders' NRL coaching team alongside Mick Crawley and Justin Giteau, which is led by head coach Ricky Stuart.

"I only finished playing a couple of months ago, but I’m really enjoying the change into coaching," Lewis said.

"I feel like I have the ability to still understand what it's like from a players perspective, and I can share some of my knowledge and help bring some young players along.

"I've spent time playing in both reserve grade and first grade so I've had a taste of it both ways and I can share that experience with the young players."
