Arsenal may soon face a decision on the future of Jakub Kiwior. The 24-year-old Polish defender, who has struggled for game time at the Emirates, is reportedly a target for Napoli ahead of the January transfer window.

Since joining Arsenal from Spezia in January 2023, Kiwior has made 47 appearances and scored twice.

However, he has yet to start a Premier League match this season, with William Saliba and Gabriel firmly ahead of him in Mikel Arteta’s plans.

Despite this, Napoli sees potential in the versatile defender, who can also play on the left side of defense.

Napoli’s offer for Arsenal defender

According to reports from Gianluca Di Marzio, Napoli have approached Arsenal to discuss a loan deal for Kiwior. The move would give the Polish international more playing time in Serie A for the rest of the 2024-25 season.

However, Napoli coach Antonio Conte reportedly has concerns about Kiwior’s ability to compete at the highest level, citing his inability to secure a starting role at Arsenal.

With Kiwior’s contract running until 2028, Arsenal holds the upper hand in negotiations for a potential permanent sale.

Does Arsenal need a replacement?

Arsenal’s defensive depth may allow them to part with Kiwior without scrambling for a replacement.

The Saliba-Gabriel pairing is one of the Premier League’s strongest, while Ben White, Takehiro Tomiyasu, and Riccardo Calafiori provide additional cover.

Kiwior’s departure could offer both clubs a win-win scenario — Napoli gets a promising defender, and Arsenal benefits from offloading a player currently on the fringes.
