Liverpool vs. Brentford confirmed lineups, expected starting 11, team news: Carvalho, Van den Berg set for swift Anfield return image

Liverpool got the Arne Slot era off to a winning start with a battling 2-0 victory over Ipswich and Brentford are first up at Anfield.

Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah were on target at Portman Road, while Thomas Frank's team were also victorious on the opening weekend.

Brentford claimed a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace despite star striker Ivan Toney being left out in the cold following transfer rumours away from the London club.

Sunday will also bring a swift reunion for two players who left Anfield this month.

Jarell Quansah is doubtful after picking up an injury during midweek training, however, the young centre-back was arguably unlikely to start after being hooked at halftime against Ipswich.

Ibrahima Konate coming in to partner Virgil van Dijk in the heart of defence could be Slot's only change.

Liverpool predicted XI (4-3-3 right to left): Alisson (GK) — Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson — Mac Allister, Gravenberch, Szoboszlai — Salah, Jota, Diaz.

Injured: Quansah (doubt)
Suspended:

Fabio Carvalho made his Brentford debut as a late substitute last weekend and he and Sepp van den Berg might have to make do with such a role again, with Thomas Frank probably reluctant to change a team that did such a fine job against Palace.

Ivan Toney missed the Palace game amid rumours of a move to the Saudi Pro League. Although that is yet to materialise, the England striker is set to miss out once more as his future is finalised.

Brentford predicted (4-3-3, right to left): Flekken (GK) — Roerslev, Collins, Pinnock, Ajer — Norgaard, Janelt, Jensen —  Mbeumo, Wissa, Schade.

Injured: Hickey, Henry, Dasilva, Thiago
Suspended:
