Leicester City are back in the Premier League after their season in the Championship following relegation in 2022/23.

Tottenham Hotspur are into their second campaign under manager Ange Postecoglou and the Australian must be aiming for Champions League qualification after narrowly missing out to Aston Villa last term.

The two sides will face off in the final game of the opening matchweek of the 2024/25 EPL season on Monday night football. The last meeting between these sides in the top flight ended in a 4-1 win for Leicester in February 2023, so the Foxes are now bidding to win consecutive league matches against Spurs for the first time since October 1999.

Leicester City vs. Tottenham lineups, starting 11, team news

In Leicester's final preseason match, Patson Daka sustained a severe ankle injury that required surgery, sidelining him for several months. Jamie Vardy is also out injured and remains a few weeks away from returning, leaving Tom Cannon as Leicester's sole fit striker. 

However, manager Steve Cooper may play Stephy Mavididi centrally, flanked by Bobby Decordova-Reid and Abdul Fatawu.

Harry Winks is expected to start against his former club, while a more defensive setup could see Wilfred Ndidi and Boubakary Soumare join him in midfield.

Tottenham suspended Yves Bissouma for Monday's Premier League opener at Leicester after he filmed himself inhaling laughing gas last weekend. Manager Postecoglou emphasised that he must rebuild trust with the team.

Meanwhile, Archie Gray, a summer signing, could make his competitive debut at No. 6, though Rodrigo Bentancur would be a more experienced choice alongside Pape Sarr.

Dominic Solanke is expected to start up front following his his £55 million transfer ($71m) from Bournemouth, as Richarlison needs more match time post-injury. Destiny Udogie is likely to start at left-back, while Brennan Johnson and Dejan Kulusevski will compete for the right flank spot.
