Vinesh Phogat has continued with her tremendous form on Day 11 of the Olympic Games in Paris. After defeating the undefeatable Yui Susaki of Japan in the Round of 16, Phogat defeated Ukraine’s Oksana Livach to enter the semi-final round. 

However, Phogat’s success train didn’t just stop there as she defeated Yusnelys Guzman of Cuba 5-0 to reach the Final of the competition, guaranteeing a medal for the Indian contingent.

The 29-year-old has become the first Indian female wrestler in history to reach the Final at the grandest stage of them all. 

Phogat’s journey has been nothing but inspiring for the Indian youth so far. From protests and issues with the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) to reaching the final of the Paris Olympics 2024, Phogat has rewritten history on her own terms, not to forget the numerous injuries she overcame in the process.

The star wrestler will now be facing one of Dolgorjavyn Otgonjargal of Cuba or Sarah Hilderbrandt of the USA in the final round of the women’s freestyle wrestling in the 50 kg category at the Paris Olympics 2024.

Phogat will feature in the final round of the women’s freestyle wrestling 50kg weight category on Wednesday, August 7. The bout between the two wrestlers will commence at 11:23 PM IST.
