India's Vinesh Phogat has appealed to the CAS to be awarded a silver medal after she was disqualified from competing in the final match. Phogat, who fought for a medal in the women's 50kg freestyle category, was declared overweight by 100 grams ahead of the final bout.

Phogat's CAS decision is due to be declared on Saturday. That being said, she is not the only athlete to have challenged the decision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) at the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024.

Here is the list of athletes who have challenged the IOC's decision in the hope of an Olympic medal at the Paris Olympic Games 2024.

Which players or teams have appealed for medals at Paris Olympics 2024?

South Africa (Team)

South Africa appealed for being obstructed by opponent team Nigeria in the men's semi-final round of the 4X400m relay race. The Proteas were given the entry to the final round after Nigerian runners were found guilty of impeding the path of their opponent athletes.

Faith Kipyegon (Kenya)

Kenya's Faith Kipyegon was disqualified from the final of the women's 5000m race due to a probable obstruction. She was denied her silver medal, with Dutch sprinter Sifan Hassan claiming second place. However, Kenya won the appeal, with Kipyegon eventually being awarded a silver medal, alongside compatriot Beatrice Chebet, who won the gold medal.

Moh Ahmed (Canada)

Canada and Moh Ahmed were denied their appeal after the athlete tripped during the first round of heats in the men's 5000m race. Ahmed, who finished 16th, was tangled among a group of fellow runners at the start of the final lap. However, he did not receive any help from his appeal.

Artur Aleksanyan (Armenia)

Armenia's Artur Aleksanyan won the silver in the 97 kg category, losing the final bout by 4-1. However, the wrestler has appealed for a gold medal against his opponent - Iran's Mohammad Hadi Saravi. The referees have supposedly not penalised Saravi for a possible rule violation, as per Aleksanyan's appeal.
