While Dubai has consistently been a preferred venue for IPL-related events, other international destinations like Doha, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia are emerging as strong contenders.

What are the potential overseas venues for the IPL 2025 mega auction?

With the BCCI looking to expand the IPL's global footprint, three Middle Eastern cities have come into the spotlight: Dubai, Doha, and cities in Saudi Arabia.

Dubai, UAE, a well-established hub for cricketing events, has hosted several IPL matches and mini-auctions in the past, making it a natural favorite.

Doha, Qatar, also brings a compelling case, particularly after hosting the FIFA World Cup in 2022. The city boasts event spaces capable of accommodating an event of the IPL auction’s stature.

Saudi Arabia is an intriguing new player in the race. With Riyadh and Jeddah looking to position themselves as sports capitals, hosting the IPL auction would be a significant milestone.

Could the IPL 2025 auction be in India?

While the focus is currently on the potential international venues, there's always a possibility that the BCCI may choose to bring the event back to India.

Mumbai, a city synonymous with cricket and business, has hosted several IPL auctions, including the inaugural edition in 2008. With its history, it remains a solid domestic option should the BCCI decide to keep the event closer to home.

Additionally, Goa, which once hosted the IPL Auction in 2009, could re-enter the conversation.

Wherever the auction is held, it will undoubtedly be a spectacle that combines cricket, business, and international appeal, ensuring that the IPL remains at the forefront of global sports entertainment.
