The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises are gearing up to finalize their player retention strategies ahead of the 2025 mega auction.

With the new retention rules in place, each team has been allowed to retain a maximum of six players, which includes one mandatory uncapped player. But which young, uncapped talents will each franchise choose to keep?

  • Chennai Super Kings (CSK): Mahendra Singh Dhoni

  • Mumbai Indians (MI): Nehal Wadhera/Anshul Kamboj

  • Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB): Yash Dayal

  • Rajasthan Royals (RR): Sandeep Sharma

  • Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR): Harshit Rana (Provided he is not capped by India before Oct 31)

  • Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH): Nitish Kumar Reddy (Provided he is not capped by India before Oct 31)

Important Consideration: The status of these uncapped players could change depending on their performance in the upcoming international fixtures.

As per BCCI regulations, any player who makes their national team debut before the October 31 deadline will no longer be considered uncapped.

However, if they debut after November 1, they will continue to hold their uncapped status heading into the IPL 2025 season.
