The star duo of Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant have been named in Delhi's probable squad for the upcoming Ranji Trophy season.

This is the first time since 2019 that they have called up by Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) when they a announced the 84-man squad on Tuesday.

India's fresh domestic season got underway earlier in September with the Duleep Trophy where the Mayank Agarwal-led India A came out triumphant in the six-match tournament.

In the next match that is lined up, the champions of last season's Ranji Trophy champions, Mumbai will face the 'Rest of India' team in the Irani Cup starting from October 1.

The full-fledged Ranji Trophy season will get underway on October 11, following the commencement of the Irani Cup in Lucknow and Delhi is set to face Chattisgarh in their opening encounter of the season.

Will Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant play for Delhi again in the Ranji Trophy?

To everyone's surprise, ahead of the New Zealand Test series the star duo of Indian cricket, Kohli and Pant were listed among the 84 men that the DDCA named in the probable squad for the upcoming season of the domestic red-ball cricket tournament.

Notably, considering India's tight schedule throughout the year, Virat hasn't played any Ranji Trophy match since facing Uttar Pradesh, 12 years ago in 2012. The last time his name was in the probable squad was 4 years ago during the 2019-20 season.

On the other hand, Rishabh Pant who returned to play long-form cricket during the Duleep Trophy for the first time since December 2022, was also made included in the probable squad for the first time in 4 years.

In the season that is about to begin, Delhi is a part of the Elite D group alongside Assam, Chandigarh, Chattisgarh, Jharkhand, Railways, Saurashtra and Tamil Nadu
