Chennai Super Kings legends Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu have urged their former CSK colleague MS Dhoni to take the field for the Chennai-based franchise in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.

There have been speculations over MS Dhoni's future in the IPL right after the 2024 season concluded. Dhoni, who has played for Chennai Super Kings right from the first season of the competition, is still uncertain whether to take part in IPL 2025.

Ahead of the mega auction, Dhoni might be considered an uncapped player since it has been five years since his last international appearance. This will inarguably be changing the dynamics of the auctions as he could be retained at a low price.

Will MS Dhoni play in IPL 2025?

Dhoni's former CSK and India colleagues Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu recently weighed in on the topic of whether the veteran wicket-keeper should continue playing or announce his retirement.

Speaking exclusively to Sports Yaari, Rayudu said, "As of now, I don't that. But the way he batted last year, I think he can play one more year. Of course, he knows it best but I think he can easily play one more year."

Weighing in on the topic, Raina added, "Of course, he [Dhoni] will play. Why, don't you want him to play? Let him play."

What next in IPL?

With the BCCI delaying the retention rules, it has been a long wait for CSK and IPL fans, in general, to know about their side's retentions and how they will move ahead in the mega auctions.

Reportedly, the board is going to let franchises know about these rules by the end of September after the AGM in Bengaluru.
