West Indies and South Africa are currently facing each other in a two-match Test series. The first test commenced on Wednesday, August 7, in Trinidad.

This series came shortly after West Indies' 3-0 defeat to England. Although West Indies are unlikely to qualify for the World Test Championship (WTC) final in the 2023-25 cycle, they will be looking to build a stronger team for the future.

For South Africa, this series marks the beginning of their push for a spot in the WTC final. The Proteas have made changes to their squad, especially in the batting order, as they adjust to the absence of retired Dean Elgar.

West Indies have included pacer Bryan Charles, who earned his first call-up, while Justin Greaves returns to the squad. Regular vice-captain Alzarri Joseph has been rested for workload management. Top-order batsman Kirk Mckenzie was dropped after a poor performance in England.

South Africa entered the series as favourites due to their overall quality and depth. The West Indies, on the other hand, familiar with home conditions, will not make it easy for them.
