The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is planning a "Connection Camp" to shape the future of Pakistani cricket. This meeting, set for September 22, will look to address recent performance issues and decide on new strategies. Key figures from the PCB and the cricketing community will gather to discuss the way forward.

What is Connection Camp?

The Connection Camp is a workshop organized by the PCB. It will bring together various stakeholders, including Gary Kirsten (white-ball head coach), Jason Gillespie (red-ball head coach), senior cricketers, high-performance centre heads, and board officials.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi will lead the discussions. The camp will focus on reviewing team performance and making decisions about future actions.

The need for the Connection Camp has been highlighted by Pakistan’s recent poor performance. The team has dropped to eighth place in the ICC Test Rankings, its lowest position since 1965.

They also suffered a 2-0 defeat against Bangladesh recently, making this meeting crucial for reassessing strategies and leadership.

Will there be a change in team captaincy?

One major topic at the camp will be the potential changes in team leadership. The coaches are expected to discuss the possibility of changing captains for both formats of the game.

Mohammad Rizwan is being considered as a possible replacement for Babar Azam as the white-ball captain. Additionally, Test captain Shan Masood's role will be evaluated.

By addressing leadership and performance issues, the board will be looking to set a clear path for future success and recovery in upcoming matches and series.
