Former England all-rounder Moeen Ali who had retired from international cricket recently, revealed that Eoin Morgan and MS Dhoni were the best captains that he has played under during his cricket career.

Moeen had announced his retirement from international cricket duties after being excluded from the squad for the upcoming white-ball series against Australia. 

With a playing career spanning over a decade, since his international debut in an ODI against West Indies in Antigua on February 2014, the 37-year-old has gone on to represent England in 68 Tests, 138 ODIs and 92 T20Is where he scored 6,678 runs and scalping 366 wickets across formats.

Why did Moeen Ali name Eoin Morgan and MS Dhoni as the best captains?

Moeen was speaking to England cricket's media team during an interview following his retirement announcement, where he has asked if Eoin Morgan was the best captain that he had played under during his career.

In response, he took two names, agreeing that Morgan was the best captain that he had played under during his England career.

However, the inclusion of Dhoni, under whom he had played for the five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions, Chennai Super Kings, displayed his respect and admiration for the former India captain. 

"Yeah, him [Eoin Morgan] and MS Dhoni obviously. But for England, yeah, Morgs was outstanding. Unbelievable captain, leader, had everything that a great leader has and all the attributes that is needed to be, and what he achieved."

The allrounder had a lot of praise for the former England captain Morgan, who had led England to their first ever 50-over World Cup trophy in 2019, in front of their home fans.

"And yeah, he was unbelievable, you'd run through brick walls for him" he added.
