Did Ruturaj Gaikwad get Retired out in the Duleep Trophy?

Opening the batting for India C in the ongoing Duleep Trophy clash, Gaikwad was dismissed after being retired hurt for just 4 runs.

After hitting the first ball of the match for a boundary off India pacer Mukesh Kumar's bowling, the opener was seen leaving the field.

However, it is not fully clear how the incident transpired as the broadcast for the India C against India B match was not available during this time.

Rajit Patidar came in to replace the opener at Number 3.

According to Sportstar reports from the ground, Gaikwad had suffered an injury after his ankle twisted while attempting a single on the second delivery.

Gaikwad returned back to the field after Tea and remained unbeaten on 46 at the end of Day 1. It seems to appear that it was only a minor niggle, and his retired hurt was taken as a precautionary measure.

Unlike the first round of the Duleep Trophy where both matches were livestreamed on Jio Cinema, it was noted that only the India A vs India D match was live streamed on the digital platform.

Fans grew frustrated as they were not able to witness or make an understanding of what happened to Gaikwad that prompted him to retire hurt early on in the match.
