The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced its 15-member squad for the upcoming Test series against England. Shan Masood has retained his position as captain, despite recent challenges.

The squad is almost the same as the one that lost 2-0 to Bangladesh at home. However, Noman Ali, a 37-year-old left-arm spinner, has been recalled to the team to replace the injured fast bowler Khurram Shahzad.

Pakistan’s series against England will be crucial, as the team has struggled to secure a home win since February 2021.

Noman Ali replaces Khurram Shahzad

The biggest change in the squad is the return of Noman Ali. He has been brought back after more than a year, having last played a Test in July 2023.

With 47 wickets in 15 Test matches, Noman has proven his ability to perform on the big stage. His inclusion comes after Khurram Shahzad was ruled out due to injury. This adjustment was seen as necessary for the team as they prepare for the series.

The rest of the squad remains unchanged from the one that suffered a 2-0 whitewash against Bangladesh. Kamran Ghulam and Mohammad Ali, who were part of the squad for the Bangladesh series, are not included in this squad. These players have been asked to continue playing domestic matches to stay match-fit.

Pakistan will host England for three Test matches, starting on October 7 in Multan. The team faces pressure as they have not won a home game since early 2021.

Captain Shan Masood is also under scrutiny, having lost all five matches under his leadership so far. The team is hopeful that with the support of local fans, they can end their winless streak and perform well in this series.
