Babar - Cropped

Pakistan and Bangladesh are currently engaged in a two-match Test series as a part of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle. The first Test is ongoing with the match in the balance after day 3.

Batting first, Pakistan declared at 448/6 in 113 overs. Saud Shakeel's 141 and Mohammad Rizwan's 171-run knock took the hosts to a high total on a batting wicket.

In response, Bangladesh are 316/5 at the end of day three, and are trailing by 132 runs. The match is evenly poised as both teams' batters have enjoyed playing on the wicket so far.

The highlight of the Test match came on the third day, as former Pakistan Test skipper Babar Azam sledged Bangladesh batter Liton Das. Das soon replied, letting his bat do the trash-talk. Here is how the situation unfolded.

What happened between Babar Azam and Liton Das in 1st Test?

On day 3, Babar instigated Das in an attempt to make him throw his wicket away. The 29-year-old, while fielding, was seen exchanging words with the on-field Bangladeshi batter.

However, Babar's attempted sledge soon backfired as a fired up Das hit back with the bat. Soon after the batter was sledged, he hit Pakistani pacer Naseem Shah for 18 runs in one over.

Das hit Naseem for three fours and a six, scoring 18 runs in the 89th over of the Bangladesh innings.

Das is still at the crease at the end of day 3, and Bangaldesh will hope he can continue his form and help the team gain a lead.
