Pakistan's former wicketkeeper batter, Kamran Akmal, the 42-year-old who represented Pakistan in over 250 international matches praised his Indian counterpart, MS Dhoni for his mindset and discussed about what set the former Indian captain apart from the rest.

Kamran Akmal who last played for Pakistan in 2017, spoke during an interview with CricBlog, where he opened up about a variety of topics regarding Pakistan cricket, India's T20 World Cup win and his relationship with the former India captain, MS Dhoni.

What set MS Dhoni apart from rest of the cricketers according to Kamran Akmal?

While talking about his Indian counterpart, Akmal emphasized that Dhoni's mentality is what set him apart from rest of the cricketers and revealed some of his conversations with Dhoni regarding wicketkeeping.

"See me and MS Dhoni started playing international cricket at almost the same time. The difference isn’t that much. I came before him and he came just a little later. We’ve played against each other on numerous occasions," said Akmal.

"No doubt MS Dhoni is someone with a different mentality altogether, an absolute match-winner and he’s super calm. The way he played was fantastic and had a fantastic career."

We used to talk a lot about wicket-keeping, we used to talk a lot about batting and yeah, it was often good to talk to Dhoni. We share a good bond and are good friends," he added.

Kamran Akmal has played for Pakistan in 53 Tests and scored 2648 runs at an average of 30.8 with 6 centuries and 12 half-centuries while also having 207 dismissals to his name.

The 42-year-old has also played 157 ODIs for Pakistan and scored 3236 runs including 5 hundreds and 10 fifties. He also has 197 dismissals to his name in the format. In T20Is, he has 987 runs and 65 dismissals to his name in 58 matches.
