The build-up to the mega auctions for IPL 2025 has already begun, with some of the biggest stars reportedly set to don a different-coloured jersey from next season.

As per the latest rumour, two of the biggest franchises in the Indian Premier League, are set for an exchange offer ahead of the 2025 season.

Five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI), and defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are reportedly in talks for a trade deal ahead of next season. Both teams finished at different ends of the table in IPL 2024. While KKR bagged the trophy, Mumbai finished at the bottom of the points table.

Both teams could now be involved in a high-profile trade deal to fulfil their short-team targets.

Will Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders execute a trade ahead of IPL 2025?

As per journalist Vishal Juglan from RevSportz, MI and KKR are in talks of a possible swap deal for their talismans, Shreyas Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav.

Iyer led KKR to their third-ever IPL title in 2024, bringing an end to a ten-year wait since 2014. Hailing from Mumbai, it would be a homecoming of sorts for the 29-year-old.

Outgoing MI star, SKY, would be looking for a captaincy spot after being selected as India's T20I captain in July 2024. The batter has played at KKR before, turning out in purple and gold for four seasons, scoring over 600 runs in 54 appearances.

It should be interesting to see how this trade unfolds, if the reports are to be believed.

It would also mean MI have decided to go ahead with Hardik Pandya as their captain for the 2025 season.
