Suryakumar Yadav, who led the Indian team to a 3-0 victory in the T20I series against Sri Lanka last month in his first assignment as captain, visited the Yankee Stadium in New York, USA.

The Yankee Stadium is home to one of the most successful Major League Baseball (MLB) teams, New York Yankees, where he was honored with a custom jersey by the franchise, with his name and number.

Following the T20 Cricket World Cup which has held in USA, there has been an increase in exchange between the two sports, cricket and baseball, in the two countries.

Why did India cricketer Suryakumar Yadav visit the baseball team New York Yankees' stadium?

The India T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav plays for the Mumbai Indians franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL), who are also the owners of the Major League Cricket (MLC) franchise, MI New York.

MI New York, like the New York Yankees, are based out of the same city. While the game of cricket and baseball are relatively new to the audiences in the United States and India, respectively, there has been a growing interest in both set of fans to have a look at the other sport.

In addition, SKY, who was part of the World Cup winning Indian team, had also played their group stage games in the recent USA hosted tournament at the Nassau County stadium in New York.

With the Indian T20I team having a long break until their next series against Bangladesh in October, captain Surya has been on a tour, but his focus has not been away from cricket, as he was quoted saying that he will be playing in the Buchi Babu tournament, which is set to take place in Tamil Nadu.

"I want to play for India in all three formats. Playing in Buchi Babu will give me good practice for the red-ball tournaments this season," SKY said.
