In a significant move for the upcoming IPL 2025 season, Rajasthan Royals have confirmed the return of Indian cricket legend Rahul Dravid as their head coach for the IPL 2025 season.

The announcement, shared on the Royals' official Twitter account, was accompanied by a picture of Dravid receiving his iconic pink jersey from Royals Sports Group CEO Jake Lush McCrum.

The Royals' Twitter post read, "Rahul Dravid, India's legendary World Cup-winning coach, is set for a sensational return to Rajasthan Royals!"

Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, known for his catchphrase "Here we go," couldn't resist chiming in and replied to the tweet with his signature phrase, adding excitement to the major coaching appointment.

What did Rahul Dravid say about his return?

After a successful stint with the Indian cricket team, culminating in their 2024 T20 World Cup win, Dravid expressed his enthusiasm about returning to the IPL.

"After the World Cup, I feel it's the ideal time for me to take on another challenge, and the Royals is the perfect place to do that," Dravid stated.

Dravid’s ties with Rajasthan Royals are deep-rooted. He played for and captained the franchise during the 2012 and 2013 seasons and later took on the role of director and mentor in 2014 and 2015.

His leadership and experience have been instrumental in shaping the Royals' strategies in the past, and his return as head coach marks the beginning of a new chapter for the team.

RR have been striving to replicate the success of their maiden IPL title in 2008. Despite coming close in recent seasons, with a playoff run in 2024, they fell short of claiming the trophy.
