The call to "Bring Back Ishan Kishan" has gone viral on social media, highlighting the growing frustration of fans who want to see the talented batter back in the Indian national team.

This demand became particularly loud on Thursday during the second round of the Duleep Trophy where he was announced to be part of the India C playing eleven.

In response, the star batter went on to notch up a brilliant century in the match after early troubles haunted India C as their skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was retired hurt early due to an ankle injury.

The push for Kishan’s return comes after a series of changes and surprises involving his career and recent performances.

In an unexpected turn, Ishan Kishan was included in the India C squad for their match against India B. This decision was made despite Kishan originally being named in the India D squad.

The BCCI had previously stated that no changes would be made to the India C team, making Kishan’s sudden inclusion surprising. His name appeared in the playing XI, replacing Aryan Juyal.

Why did fans trend 'Bring back Ishan Kishan' during Duleep Trophy?

The calls for Kishan on social media intensified after him being sidelined due to a groin injury and was unexpectedly left out of the India D squad for the Duleep Trophy.

Although the BCCI had initially indicated that Kishan would miss only the first round of the tournament, but he was later omitted from the updated squad without any official explanation.

However, the main reason behind the trend is due to his repeated exclusion from the Indian cricket team during the later tenure of Rahul Dravid and current under head coach Gautam Gambhir.

The issue which started ahead of the South Africa series in December last year has seen him being frozen out of the Indian team since taking a break and then supposedly refusing to play domestic cricket.

Later, following India's triumph at the T20 World Cup 2024, Kishan opened up about his mental health struggles and about losing his contract.

"I was not in a frame of mind to play and that is why I took a break from international cricket. It doesn't make sense that you take a break from international cricket and then you go and play domestic matches." Ishan said

Although there was no telecast of the match, Ishan Kishan made a remarkable comeback in the Duleep Trophy, scoring a quick century for India C against India B. Kishan’s innings of 111 off 126 balls included 14 fours and 3 sixes.

This century was the first-ever First-Class century at the Anantapur Cricket Ground’s ‘B’ venue. Kishan's batting followed a strong showing in the Buchi Babu Trophy, where he scored 114 runs.

The strong reaction from fans and Kishan’s impressive hundred have brought renewed attention to his case. As the debate continues, many are hopeful that Kishan’s talent and recent form will lead to his reinstatement in the Indian squad.
