The England Test team captain Ben Stokes suffered a horrific hamstring injury while representing the Northern Superchargers against Manchester Originals in the Hundred 2024 competition.

Stokes suffered the injury while he was batting when he attempted to take a quick single, but collapsed to the ground in agony, and was later helped off the ground by his teammate and support staff.

He later came out to the dugout on crutches as he watched his team win the match by eight wickets, to move to third in The Hundred 2024 points table.

This injury put both the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and head coach Brendon McCullum in a difficult position, as the skipper become a major doubt for the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka

The first Test match of the 3-match series between England and Sri Lanka will begin on Wednesday, August 21.
