Ravichandran Ashwin recently shared his thoughts on the future of Rohit Sharma with the Mumbai Indians ahead of the Indian Premier League 2025.

As speculations grow about Rohit's possible departure from MI, Ashwin believes that the star cricketer will continue to play for the franchise, regardless of his role. Despite losing the captaincy last year, Ashwin argues that Rohit's loyalty to MI and passion for the game go beyond financial incentives.

Reports suggest that Rohit's future with Mumbai Indians is uncertain, especially after he was replaced by Hardik Pandya as captain before IPL 2024. There were even rumours that Rohit was unhappy with how the team was being managed. With the IPL 2025 mega auction approaching, whether Rohit will stay with MI or move to another team remains a hot topic to discuss.

What did Ravichandran Ashwin say in Rohit Sharma's support?

Ravichandran Ashwin, however, has faith that Rohit will remain with Mumbai Indians.

"Even if you think like Rohit, it's not wrong at all. 'I don't want any headache. I have been a captain for India. I have captained Mumbai many times. Even if I am not a captain, I am going to Mumbai happily. If I play for Mumbai, it's super'. I am sure most players are like that. After a stage, money doesn't matter for some of those players. That's the thing," Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.

Rohit Sharma performed well in IPL 2024. He scored 417 runs, the most in an IPL since 2016. He scored a century and a fifty and had a strike rate of 150 in the season. Despite his efforts, MI had a disappointing season under Pandya’s leadership. They finished last on the points table with only four wins out of 14 games.

As the IPL 2025 auction approaches, the future of Rohit Sharma with Mumbai Indians remains a hot topic. While many speculate about his departure, Ashwin's comments suggest that Rohit's commitment to the franchise might outweigh any external factors.
