Pakistan is set to host Bangladesh for a two-match Test series starting on August 21, 2024. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken a unique approach to ensure fan turnout by offering incredibly low ticket prices.

With prices starting at just 15 rupees in Indian currency (PKR 50), the PCB hopes to fill the stands in Rawalpindi and Karachi. This initiative comes particularly after recent concerns about low attendance at Test matches and other cricket events in Pakistan.

In Rawalpindi, the premium enclosures are priced at PKR 200, and VIP enclosures are available for PKR 500 on weekdays and PKR 600 on weekends.

Karachi offers even more affordable options, with first-class enclosures priced at PKR 100 and premium enclosures at PKR 200.

What is PCB’s concern over attendance?

The PCB’s decision to set such low ticket prices stems from concerns about fan attendance. The board fears that the stands may remain empty, as has been the case in recent events like the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024. To combat this, the PCB has drastically reduced ticket prices to encourage fans to come out and support the national team.

What is the schedule for Pakistan vs Bangladesh Test series?

The first Test match will be held at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from August 21 onwards, followed by the second and final match at the National Stadium in Karachi from August 30 onwards. Bangladesh’s squad, led by Shakib Al Hasan, has already departed for Pakistan.

  • Pakistan vs Bangladesh 1st Test: Aug 21-25 (Rawalpindi)
  • Pakistan vs Bangladesh 2nd Test: Aug 30-Sep 3 (Karachi)

The PCB’s move to offer dirt-cheap tickets for the Test series is a bold strategy to fill the stands and bring back the excitement of Test cricket in the country. With tickets as low as 50 Pakistani rupees, fans have a rare opportunity to watch international cricket at an affordable price.
