Spence-Crawford predictions: Early picks & preview for 2023 super fight on Fightin' Words image

It won't be long until two of the top fighters in the world, Errol Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford, face off on July 29 to determine who will be named the undisputed welterweight champion of the world.

The fight airs on Showtime PPV in the U.S. from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

A fight years in the making, this fight adds to a stacked boxing schedule that has already had Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia and other big bouts. Spence and Crawford have proven they are elite boxers, and over the years, various figures within boxing have debated who would have the edge if they fought.

Is Terence Crawford the better fighter or Spence? Who has the better resume? Will any of that matter once the first bell rings? It's a true coin flip fight that has SN's Andreas Hale and Tom Gray divided.

Spence could impose his size (especially his long jab) and will against Crawford, who can be an aggressive fighter when he wants to be. Crawford may have more ways to win, whether early or late in the fight. While Spence is the underdog, +135 per Caesars, with Crawford the -160 favorite, is that warranted?

Hale and Gray are so sure of their picks that they are willing to literally put their money where their mouth is.

While both are on the older side compared to when Hagler vs. Hearns got booked, it could be a calculating boxing bout or a fire fight. Man vs. Man. Title vs. Title. Undisputed on the line. Who do you have winning: Spence or Crawford? More importantly, will it deliver?

On this episode of Fightin’ Words, Hale and Gray are joined by Karisa Maxwell to preview this super fight.
