WWE Crown Jewel 2024 results, match grades: Cody Rhodes, Liv Morgan win gold, new Bloodline stand tall in Saudi Arabia image

WWE returned to Saudi Arabia to continue its long-standing partnership with the Ministry of Sport. Like recent events, wrestlers were immortalized in the area with a country-specific award. Two of WWE's top champions walked out with more gold.

Women's World Champion Liv Morgan and Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes stood tall to win the WWE Crown Jewel Title. The titles will remain in Saudi Arabia, but Rhodes and Morgan earned rings to commemorate their wins.

Rhodes faced Gunther, the World Heavyweight Champion. One of the most dominant stars in pro wrestling today, Gunther showcased his power and wrestling prowess to shine bright against Rhodes, who provided a grounded offense to try and match Gunther. Gunther was about to win the match with a Sleeper before Rhodes rolled him up to win the match and belt.

The win added another milestone moment for Rhodes, who has had a massive 2024. The loss doesn't hurt Gunther, and fans all over are craving for a rematch down the road. What's next for both men?

After beating WWE Women's Champion Nia Jax in a champion vs. champion match, Morgan became the first WWE Women's Crown Jewel Champion. Morgan had an army behind her in Raquel Rodriguez and Dominik Mysterio to take down Jax. An emotional Morgan used offense off the top rope to topple her opponent.

Tiffany Stratton tried involving herself in the match, but Ms. Money in the Bank will have to continue to wait to cash in. Morgan is now a double champion. What's next for her after an injury to Rhea Ripley once again halted their feud?

Meanwhile, LA Knight, Andrade, and Carmelo Hayes entertained in a challenging position, late on the card, for the WWE United States Title. Hayes and Andrade continued their mini-feud with an entertaining exchange. Knight had one of his best matches in WWE as he attempted to take out both men.

Knight remains the champion and will continue his run. YEAH!

A match between Randy Orton and Kevin Owens did not happen as the two brawled before the official could ring the bell. Both hit one another with chair shots, and things took a turn when the referee got taken out. Several WWE officials, including GM Adam Pearce, got attacked for trying to interfere in the brawl.

The feud will continue with an eventual actual match. Owens has become unhinged, maybe even more than Orton was at one point in his career.

Seth "Freakin'" Rollins and Bronson Reed engaged in an entertaining grudge match that complimented their intense feud. Rollins put on a gutsy performance and did everything he could to take out Reed. Reed punished Rollins in and out of the ring, using his size to decimate the Visionary.

A determined Rollins never gave up, mouthing, "You should have finished me when you had the chance" to Reed. He landed a top rope Stomp to take out Reed. The celebration was brief as Reed got back up after the match. Rollins got a measure of revenge, while Reed proved to be an unstoppable force and that he could be the future of WWE.

Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair retained the WWE Women's Tag Team Titles against Damage CTRL (Kairi Sane and Iyo Sky), Meta-Four (Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson), and Chelsea Green and Piper Niven. Legend and Jackson were the breakout stars, showcasing their strength throughout the match. Green was also a standout, using her unique skills to entertain.

Everyone in the match got to showcase what they can do, while Damage CTRL proved why they should be consistent contenders. Cargill and Belair defied all odds and remained on the same page.

Opening the show was the continuation of a feud between Roman Reigns, Solo Sikoa, and The Bloodline. Reigns had The Usos by his side, but Jey Uso, who has thrived as a singles star, was hesitant to trust Reigns. That led to awkward moments with the OG Bloodline as the new blood took advantage.

The star of the match was Jacob Fatu, who took out everyone in his path. Reigns and Sikoa finally had their moment in the ring, and, following a few distractions, Sikoa pinned Reigns.

After the match, Sami Zayn made the save for the OG Bloodline. The former Honorary Uce accidentally attacked Reigns, and Jey defended him while his brother Jimmy looked on. There is still some tension with the OG group, playing up their history. Can they get it together before it is too late? Will we see a Bloodline WarGames match?

LA Knight uses Scott Steiner math heading to his upcoming match. It is his birthday weekend.

As of now, The Bloodline vs. The Bloodline is expected to open the show.

Goldberg will have one final match in 2025. Who's next?

The Bloodline vs. Bloodline match is indeed opening the show. Interesting to note that Jey Uso got his own entrance and didn't join Roman Reigns and Jimmy Uso. Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Jacob Fatu will compete for the other side.

Out with the old: Solo Sikoa, New Bloodline take out Roman Reigns and The Usos

Jey Uso and Tama Tonga start things off, with Jey offering his services. The difference between everyone in this feud and Jey (Mr. Yeet) is very noticeable. Jimmy and Jey teamed up for the first time in a while, forcing Tonga to the outside. Sikoa and his group formed a new game plan before Fatu entered the ring. The crowd wanted Reigns, but Jey tagged in Jimmy. Interesting there is still some divide in the OG Bloodline.

Fatu went on a rampage against Jimmy. Sikoa got into the ring, stared at Reigns, and attacked Jimmy. Jey back in, proving something to himself and Reigns. Samoan Drop by Fatu to Jey. Sikoa in the ring and his group tried and dismantle the OG Bloodline. Jey finally got to tag in Reigns, and he faced off against Sikoa. They exchanged blows, from headbutts to clotheslines.

Going for the Superman Punch, Reigns landed after multiple attempts. Reigns got caught with a Spike as he went for a spear. There might have been a botch on the referee's count. Fatu took over until Jey took him out. Everyone went in and out of the ring. Just the two of them again, Reigns landed a Superman Punch. Tonga, Loa, and Fatu interfered, the latter landing a moonsault. Two Spikes by Sikoa and the new Bloodline win the match.

The match was a taste of what is expected to come with this feud. Jey being hesitant to work with Reigns after all these years was a nice touch. Fatu was the star of the match.

Grade: B

The New Bloodline attack Reigns and The Usos after the match. Sami Zayn is out. The Honorary Uce attacked Sikoa, inserting himself into the story. Zayn took out Reigns as Sikoa moved away from an attack. Still some tension in the OG group heading into Survivor Series.

Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair defend the WWE Women's Tag Team Titles against Damage CTRL (Kairi Sane and Iyo Sky), Meta-Four (Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson), and Chelsea Green and Piper Niven next. Jade and Belair came out separately.

Legend and Jackson entered the match and continued the attack on Green.

The women of the Meta Four took over as Green finally collapsed to Damage CTRL's corner, where Sane entered the match. Sane with a spear to Jackson. A botch from Sky in an attempted move on the top rope. She recovered with a top rope dropkick. Niven got in the match and landed a sit-out powerbomb. Blockbuster by Belair and a Pump Kick by Legend. Jade in the ring now and she exchanged blows with Legend. Big kick by Cargill connected.

Crossbody by Niven took out both women. Green attempted a moonsault but hesitated, using comedy. Sane landed an Insane Elbow to take out Green and Niven. Sky with a moonsault. Legend launched Jackson out the ring, and Belair took out Legend. Green in the ring, and Jade landed Jaded, but only for two.

Damage CTRL teamed up against Belair. Meta Four attacked Sane. Niven and Green take out Meta Four, including a senton by Niven. Cargill took out Green, and Niven, not noticing Green was in her path, squashed her. Cargill lifted Niven up and Belair landed the Doomsday Device. The champs retained their belts.

An excellent match. Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson were the standouts. It was very obvious how good they are in the ring, even compared to the women who have been on the main roster for a while. Everyone gave it their all and delivered.

Seth Rollins throws everything, including the kitchen sink, to beat Bronson Reed

On top, a superplex by Reed. "You should have finished me when you had the chance" said Rollins as he goaded Reed. Reed went up top, Rollins rolled out the ring, and the former followed. A slap by Rollins but that just made Reed mad.

Reed tried using the steep steps, but Rollins chop blocked him onto them. A Stomp on the steps but Reed got up right away. A Stomp in the ring, and then a super Stomp off the top rope, and Rollins took Reed out.

A match worthy of this feud. A gutsy performance from Rollins, who did everything he could to take out Reed. Reed continues to prove he is a star that deserves more opportunities.

Grade: A

Reed got back up and stared down Rollins, looking like a true force.

Champions collide as Liv Morgan faces Nia Jax for the WWE Women's Crown Jewel Title. It is the first of two matches for the newly-crafted belt.

Big DDT but Jax recovered and landed a huge Samoan Drop. Mid-rope Samoan Drop but only for two. Both women were down, and Tiffany Stratton came to the ring.

Stratton was ready to cash in her Money in the Bank briefcase, but Jax got up and intimidated her. Morgan tried to attack Jax but got hit with an elbow. Stratton left the ring and Jax tried to land another Samoan Drop but Morgan reversed for two (it was botched a bit). A slam on Morgan as she tried Oblivion and Stratton came back out. Raquel Rodriguez took the briefcase. Distracted, Morgan landed the Codebreaker for two. Jax blasted Morgan and Rodriguez, and Stratton got hit as well, accidental or not is unknown.

Annihilator attempt, Dominik Mysterio and Rodriguez distracted Jax, and Morgan landed Oblivion for the win. Morgan is now a double champion.

There was a lot happening in the match. It was one of the best contests featuring Morgan and Jax. Morgan needing everyone to take out Jax, while Stratton was conflicted adds to a unique story.

Grade: C+

Kevin Owens vs. Randy Orton is next. An unhinged Owens is wearing a Cowboy Bob Orton shirt before facing Randy.

Unhinged Kevin Owens takes Randy Orton out

Owens attacked Orton with a chair as he was finishing his entrance. To be fair, he took a long time for it to finish thanks to the crowd singing along. On the outside, Orton and Owens fought by the announce table. In the ring, Owens stunned the referee. Orton hit Owens with a chair. He dropped Owens on the announce table. Daivari tried to interfere but Orton attacked him.

A draping DDT and Nick Aldis and Adam Pearce tried stopping Orton. An RKO to Pierce. Owens with an elbow to Orton on a table from somewhere within the building. The match is not happening, meaning the feud will continue. A pet peeve is when a match where people are in the ring doesn't happen. However, unhinged Owens is the best Owens.

LA Knight defends the WWE United States Title against Andrade and Carmelo Hayes.

LA Knight retains gold against Andrade and Carmelo Hayes

Knight attacked Andrade and Hayes, but they both kicked him out of the ring. Andrade and Hayes, who have engaged in a fun rivalry recently, traded moves. Wow!

Hayes blocked a Knight BFT attempt and Andrade landed the back elbow. Senton by Hayes, a spinning cutter, and he attempted to pin both men. That was a very smooth, fast match. Everyone tried to outdo the other, and minus one botch, everything flowed. The future looks bright.

Gunther vs. Cody Rhodes to determine the first WWE Crown Jewel Champion is next.

The difference of the presentation of both men is like night and day. Gunther chain wrestled for a bit, and Rhodes attempted the same. Arm drag by Rhodes. Cross Rhodes attempt by Gunther, who countered into a Sleeper, and Rhodes quickly escaped. A Bionic Elbow attempt got countered into a big Gunther chop.

Rhodes landed several counters and clotheslines that would not put Gunther down. The latter finally went outside the ring. Rhodes tried a super Cody Cutter, Gunther landed the Sleeper but Rhodes rolled up up for the win. He won the Crown Jewel Title.

The match showcased the different styles of both men. The match heated up towards the end. A rollup loss doesn't hurt Gunther at all. Wouldn't mind seeing a rematch between the two down the line.
