The world's best female triathletes will descend upon Nice, France, for the Ironman Women's World Championship on Sunday.

The athletes will set out to conquer a 140.6-mile quest, which takes them on a 2.4-mile swim in the Mediterranean, to a 112-mile bike ride through the Mountains and a 26.2-mile coastal run to determine the winner. Nice is hosting the women's race for the first time while the men's competition will take place a month later in Hawaii.

Germany's Laura Philipp and Britain's Kat Matthews are also expected to compete for the top spot.
