The race to secure European qualification in the 2023/24 Premier League season will be another key part of the domestic campaign.
The 2022/23 season concluded with eight top-flight sides clinching a place in Europe for the upcoming season, with English representatives in the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Europa Conference League.
The infamous top four battle decided the Champions League spots, with champions Manchester City joined by Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle.
The presence of the growing UEFA Europa Conference League has stretched the Premier League interest in Europe even further with West Ham winning the title in May.

European places in Premier League 2023/24: How many teams can qualify for Europe?
The 2023/24 Premier League season mirrors recent campaigns in providing the potential opportunity for seven Premier League clubs to clinch a European spot at the end of the campaign.
As per UEFA rules, the Premier League is guaranteed four Champions League places, two Europa League places, and one Europa Conference League place.
The Champions League qualification picture, via Premier League finishes, is relatively straightforward with the top four sides securing a place in the 2024/25 Champions League group stages.
Prior to the start of the season, fifth spot is reserved for a Europa League qualification place, with the FA Cup and EFL Cup winners given Europa League and Europa Conference spots respectively, subject to criteria.
If either cup winner secures a European place via league finish, their spot is designated to the next ranked team, with sixth place set for the Europa League, and seventh for the Europa Conference League.
That was the case at the end of 2022/23, as City won the FA Cup and EFL Cup, and Brighton & Hove Albion sealed a first-ever Europa League campaign, by finishing sixth, and Unai Emery's Aston Villa snatched seventh on the final day of the campaign.
The eighth Premier League qualifier for European action in 2023/24 came via West Ham's Conference League title win which automatically secured them a place in the Europa League, despite their 14th place domestic finish.
The same exceptions will be in place in 2023/24, if a team wins the Europa League or Europa Conference League and does not qualify for Europe through a league route, with a Europa League crown equalling a Champions League spot, as was the case with Sevilla in 2023.

How many Premier League teams are in Europe in 2023/24? Who has qualified?
Manchester City's Premier League title defence, as part of a trophy treble for Pep Guardiola, means another season of Champions League football at the Etihad Stadium.
Arsenal ended the campaign in frustration, after losing out to City in the title race, but Mikel Arteta's team are back in the Champions League for the first time since 2017, alongside United and Newcastle, with the Magpies returning to the big European stage following a two decade absence.
Liverpool slipped down into the Europa League, to be joined by Roberto De Zerbi's Brighton, and David Moyes' West Ham, by virtue of their bold Europa Conference League win.
Three-time Europa League winner Emery will lead Villa in the Europa Conference League.

What happens if an English club wins a European trophy?
The prospect of a European trophy win disrupting the 'league path' to Europe is an ongoing factor each season, however, the top six/seven is generally the final Premier League qualification route.
There have been exceptions to the rule, as was the case with Liverpool's Champions League win over AC Milan in 2005 and West Ham's triumph last season
UEFA rules on the situation allow for a tiered system, with the Conference League winner stepping up to the Europa League, and the Europa League victor to the Champions League, if either fail to secure a domestic pathway into Europe.
Domestic cup success can also block an overall league finish, with Arsenal's 2020 FA Cup win putting them in the Europa League for 2020/21, despite finishing 9th, as Tottenham's sixth place finish meant a Europa Conference League spot.
