Liverpool are ready to reward Luis Diaz's red-hot early season form with a new contract at Anfield.

The Colombia international has played a vital role in Arne Slot's plans since the start of the campaign with five goals from five Premier League games.

Diaz netted eight league goals last season, and he is expected to cruise past the mark before the end of 2024, and Liverpool are planning for his long-term future.

Contracts are a major topic of discussion at Anfield with the club also preparing renewal talks with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah.

That trio are into the final year of their respective contracts, with Diaz's deal running until 2027, but Liverpool are keen to fend off rumoured interest from Barcelona.

As per the latest from Teamtalk.com, talks with Diaz's representatives are progressing positively, and the club are hopeful of an agreement in the coming months.

Liverpool are rumoured to have told Diaz's agent they are unhappy with the perceived 'welcoming' of Barcelona's interest but it has not impacted their desire to retain the 27-year-old.

13 goals in all competitions caught the eye last season, as Diaz looked settled on Merseyside, but he could break the 20+ mark for the first time in his career if his form continues.
