Why are there no NBA games today?
There are no NBA games today in observance of Election Day in the United States.
The NBA began taking Election Day off during the 2022-23 season. The league continues to promote nonpartisan civic engagement through various initiatives, including this year's "Get in the Game" initiative.
Election Day is one of a few days on the calendar on which no NBA games will be played, barring any schedule changes. After Election Day, each Tuesday for the rest of November will be part of the NBA Cup, which tips off on Tuesday, Nov. 12.
In addition to Nov. 5, there will be no NBA games on Thursday, Nov. 28 (Thanksgiving Day) and Tuesday, Dec. 24 (Christmas Eve). There are currently empty dates on the NBA's schedule in December which will be changed based on results of the NBA Cup.
NBA games tomorrow (Nov. 6)
After no games on Tuesday, the NBA season resumes with 12 games and 24 teams in action on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
