As the 2024 preseason gets underway, Bruce Brown Jr. is still on the Raptors roster but will not be on the floor.

Brown, who has been subjected to trade rumors since joining Toronto in January, will spend the beginning of training camp rehabbing from an offseason procedure. However minor, it will keep Brown off the court for at least the beginning of the preseason.

What is Bruce Brown's injury?

Brown underwent an arthroscopic surgery on his right knee, the Raptors announced Sept 20.

During Raptors media day, team president Masai Ujiri explained that Brown's knee flared up as he began to ramp up his workload in preparation for the upcoming season. The arthroscopic procedure was done in response to the flare-up.

How long will Bruce Brown be out?

Brown will be re-evaluated three weeks from the initial Sept. 20 announcement, meaning he will be out through at least Oct. 11.

The evaluation timeline means Brown missed the entirety of Toronto's training camp in Montreal and will miss at least the first two preseason games, which fall on Sunday, Oct. 6 and Friday, Oct. 11.

Brown could still be ready in time for opening night of the 2024-25 NBA season.

Raptors upcoming schedule 2024-25

The Raptors open their preseason schedule with an exhibition against the Wizards in Montreal as part of the NBA Canada Series. They then travel to Washington to play the Wizards again, take the floor for a home-and-home with the defending champion Celtics and close out the action with a visit to Brooklyn.

The regular season opens on Oct. 23.
