Is Raheem Mostert playing this week? Injury update, fantasy outlook for Dolphins' RB ahead of Week 3 vs. Seahawks image

Raheem Mostert's career has been completely rejuvenated in Miami as a part of Mike McDaniel's offense. After spending the early part of his career in San Francisco, Mostert made the move to Miami in 2022 at the age of 30. In 2023, in his age-31 season, Mostert actually led the league in total touchdowns with 21, which is quite an impressive feat for a veteran back like Mostert.

Mostert's early days in San Francisco were plagued by injuries; in five full years with the team, he only played a full season once. His injury concerns are now catching up to him in Miami, where he is in danger of missing his second straight game.

Here's everything you need to know about Mostert's injury status and what you can expect from him in Week 3.

Is Raheem Mostert playing this week?

Mostert participated in a limited capacity during all three of the Dolphins' practices this week while recovering from a chest injury. As a result, the team has given him a "doubtful" tag as they prepare to play the Seahawks in Week 3.

It is very rare for players to overcome a doubtful designation to suit up that week. Furthermore, Dolphins' head coach Mike McDaniel has indicated that the team is "pessimistic" about Mostert's availability.

Given his injury designation and the comments from McDaniel, all signs point to Mostert sitting this one out. Dolphins fans and fantasy managers should be prepared to be without "Raheem the Dream" in Week 3.

Inactives for the mid-afternoon games have come out and Mostert is inactive.

Dolphins' RB Depth Chart: Who is Raheem Mostert's Backup?

As is the case for many teams in the modern NFL, Miami utilizes multiple running backs within their offense. Mostert's backfield complement is second-year running back De'Von Achane. In his rookie season, Achane took the league by storm, averaging 7.8 yards per carry.

Without Mostert on the field, Achane will likely shoulder the vast majority of the running back opportunities. In Mostert's absence in Week 2, Achane set a career-high with 29 total touches (22 carries and seven receptions) during the Dolphins' loss to the Buffalo Bills.

We should expect more of the same in Week 3. Achane has proven to be a "do it all" back who can handle a large workload. Jeff Wilson Jr. and Jaylen Wright will mix in here and there, but Week 3 should be the Achane show once again.

Raheem Mostert fantasy outlook Week 2

As previously mentioned, fantasy managers should plan to be without Mostert this week as it is incredibly uncommon for players to overcome a doubtful designation. If you're lucky enough to have Achane on your roster, you can expect another big week for him against the Seahawks.
